Something to toy with: implant addiction.
http://io9.com/5402584/the-curious-case-of-a-woman-addicted-to-her-brain-implant
Play with the addiction? How the implant functions? What kind of character is this a good element for? Is this similar to characters who "turn on" their powers, a la early O'Neil Az or TI Hulk? How do I grab that aspect and apply it to the function? Is the turn on manual or trigger by external forces (not emotions)?
Can this be fused with a karma-dogma character development? Protagonist who is addicted to the implant loses their core belief as they socio-evolve into a higher being by sociocultural standards (especially relevent if those standards don't conform to the readers standards... avoid the TWILIGHT ZONE ripoff that seems far too plausible here).
How, then, to delineate society and culture to present different layers of understand (not necessarily contrasting). Stolen from wiki:
~~~However, the word "culture" is most commonly used in three basic senses:
Excellence of taste in the fine arts and humanities, also known as high culture
An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for symbolic thought and social learning
The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group
~~~Used in the sense of an associaton, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Like other communities or groups, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone.
A society, however, may be ontologically independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie".
More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony.

Titles
Frustrations leap. They have extensions
in their boots and they go far higher than
they are supposed to go. One landed on
my roof and it collapsed under the weight
of the rain.
And then my foundation cracked, and the
frustrations crushed the furniture and
through the floors and it kept me under-
neath it.
That's when I dug out and I jumped
higher. I won't land for a while.
(monologue over a two page spread, each panel with the hero pushing his way out into a position of dogged accomplishment)

PAGE 1
(splash page, TITLE written across the top by the shape of some buildings, giving way to a large panel explosion below it taking out the "TI" and a cross explosion taking out "TLE." The buildings will all crumble on the next page. The buildings feel southwestern US, tho more a feel of Phoenix building UP instead of OUT. Keep the explosions feeling as if they could've been caused by an energy attack, explosive device, or a wrecking ball on the inside of the building.)
PAGE 2
(panel 1 reveal shows smoke coming off of a naked [race?] male, lean musculature. The smoke obscures the nudity and feels more residual than mystical. panel 2 indicates movement of the upper body and panel 3 indicates movement of the lower body like the naked male is running toward something. panel 4 across the bottom of the page shows two naked, smokey feet stopping suddenly and a weapon falling to the ground in the background)
PAGE 3
(panel 1 thought bubble: "Hm. That was the best I had." Extreme close up of an eye. panel two flashes to a mouth place below the eye). "I see your skill."
(panel 3 shows a very different mouth in the same position of the original) "Not yet." (panel four [all four panels are set up on a quadrant on the page] is split in half horizontally, with the top half showing part of a cityscape and the bottom half showing that same cityscape, but demolished and on fire.)
PAGE 4
(panel 1, boxed in overthought: "How am I keeping this even?" Provide another full body shot of the naked man, running while looking over his right shoulder and just giving a hint of a profile outline to the reader) "Where's yr rage? Yr discipline!"
(panel 2 shows a city scene POV with an arm the skintone of the 2nd player on the bottom left.) "Tempered." (panel 3 shows that same city scene POV with the arm on the bottom right and the scene looking like he sliced it in half with a lightsaber.) "Long ago."
(panel four shows desperation in the mouth and cheeks of our first player, thoughts in yellow box: "Frustration. At this level, it's shadowboxing. And I can only afford one more invisibility ticket..." panel five, which the yellow box partially overlaps, connecting panels 4 and 5, shows the same frustrated face, but faded out against the background.)
(panel six shows the open eyes of the 2nd player. panels seven shows closed eyes for the second player. panel eight is the same as seven, but with a gleeful smile on the face)
PAGE 5
(panel one, top left, shows the gleeful 2nd player from a motion profile, so we don't get more than an outline. panel two, top right, shows the faded "invisible" fist apparently full of power or energy or something. panel three, which is the entire page, shows a devastating attack originating from the fist of the invisible first player)
PAGE 6
(panel one, renewed smoke around player 1 as they walk toward player two) "Unbelievable. I mean. I just can't. Unbelievable." (panel two, 1 is bending over 2) "I crossed continents MANUALLY for you. Who are you?" (panel three, the smoke is massively increasing around 1 as agitation increases) "I brought a knife across my own throat - I SPILLED my own blood - I crossed a personal line... who are YOU?! YOU ARE WRONG!" (panel four, 1 is agitated and exploded in sobbing, furious frustration, the terrifying level that can almost exclusively be reached by toddlers) "YOU! YOU ARE! ARE... are... You. YOU. You're wrong. Wrong... wrong. Are wrong." (panel 5, sobbing. panel six, quietly while sobbing) "I need who you were!"
PAGE 7
(full page, 2 is now is some sort of flaming smoke tornado form, where it appears to be entirely constructed out of the smoke players 1 and 2 both seem to exhibit. the smoke has licks coming off of it that make it look like the interior is on fire while the way the smoke is wrapped implies a tornado. two completely black eyes with orange pupils looks out of the mass like he is a person wrapped in this strange concoction.) "Heh."

Peter King, SI MMQB from today:
Enjoyable/Aggravating Travel Note of the Week
Boarding a flight from Denver to Phoenix last Tuesday, I was in the aisle walking toward the back of the plane. The aisle was full. The plane was going to be full, and it was probably half-boarded.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are ready for immediate departure,'' the flight attendant said, with a bit of urgency. This was a 6 a.m. flight, and now it was about 5:40. "Please take your seats as soon as possible so we can depart.''
About three minutes late, I got to my seat, was putting away my carryon, and the aisle was still full, with a line of maybe 30 people still making if to their seats.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats so we can be ready for an on-time departure,'' she said, more urgently now.
How should we get there, ma'am? By levitating?
It wasn't even 5:45 now. We weren't leaving the gate, minimum, for 15 minutes. And this women was talking like there was a fire onboard and we had to scram or we'd all be cooked. And it wasn't even 6 in the morning, no less. Now that's a good time in the friendly skies right there.

I like this idea for the uncomfortable start of the flight.

I like this idea for the uncomfortable start of the flight.
Projects I'd like to start on, places to go from
-Prologue for the D&D sessions/ outline for chapter one
-Bedbug comic (ues Egypt parallels. include my developing of super powers to assist with all of the small tasks)
-Alice in Wonderland comic (not sure how, but I'd like the tea party and the hatter involved... that's a project for far later)
-A mid-size town where 20 (or so) people get "powers" (things that vary them from being traditional human). This will also be a big one (six issues or so). The "twist" would be draw media attention and terrorist action far, far quicker than people expect. Literally "over Hour" sensations. One character learns that his power is to transport things to a pocket dimension, and it ends with that character sending the town into said dimension without a way to return it. I believe that character probably also put a bunch of terrifying stuff (like chemical and biological weapons) into the same pocket dimension. It's just a start of an idea, but I want the ending to be unexpected while also fulfilling the "superhero" and "superpower" needs.
-Erik... with a K! Use backnotes/ old notes for this one.
-Escalating airport extravaganza. The airplane trip that always gets worse. Perhaps a super anticlimatic ending? I like 3 pages of this character finally getting home, and the life is so boring and mundane that you *wish* he has another airport trip like the one he had previously.

Today
I had a conversation. This will be where I continue what was discussed in the previously mentioned conversation. Current goals will be to finalized the prologue, continue the self-discussion about how to update my writing in relation to what I'm learning, and to wrestle with discussing what I'd like to write and the medium I'd like to write it in.
Guy who has the ever escalating "terrible airport trip." 22 page comic idea. Flesh out?
4 month alarm clock.
